Winchester Crit Countdown: Pfeiffer Georgi on Crit Racing and Curry for Breakfast!

Pfeiffer Georgi (Liv Cycling Club – Epic Coaching) stormed to victory in both the Youth (U16 Girls) and the subsequent women’s race at the Winchester Criterium 2016. With lots of racing commitments as well as GCSE’s looming, she took time out to answer a few questions
Tell us about your races in Winchester 2016?

After riding (and winning! –Ed) the Youth race in the morning I was more comfortable with the course – it was very technical. I knew where I could attack to try and get away.
I went pretty early on in the Women’s event and managed to get a bit of a gap and just went as hard as I could for the rest of the race!

After your wins in June, how did the rest of the season go?

The rest of the season went pretty well for me as I managed to win the Youth National Circuit Championships and the National Madison Championships with Anna Docherty. I also won the Youth National Series which finished in August.

What in particular (apart from winning!) do you like about the event? Do you find that the course suits you?

Yes, I really liked the course at Winchester. I have always likes Crits and enjoyed the technicality of the course. I also thought the event was very well run and the crowds in the town made it a really good experience.

How have you been getting on in 2017, and what are your plans towards the summer?

2017 has gone well for me so far as I managed to have a couple of wins at an international track competition in Apeldoorn very early on this season. Then with the Liv CC girls, we got 2nd at the Elite National Championships in the Team Pursuit.
Most recently, I managed to win the Junior Gent-Wevelgem, which is my biggest win to date. My plans then are completing my GCSE’s, then racing with the GB Junior Academy.

Who would you say is likely to provide the main competition for the Regional title?

I’m not sure exactly who will be competing, but the girls from WNT were very strong last year, and are competitive for the women’s Regional title.

Tell us a non-cycling interesting fact people won’t know about you?

My favourite breakfast is curry and I will have it before a race if there are leftovers in the fridge!

Thanks to Ruth Crawford & Winchester Criterium

This years race is on Sunday 11th June
