Course Details
The race roll out from the HQ will be neutralised along Longwood Road toward the crossroad junction with Belmore Lane (M). At the junction turn right onto Belmore Lane where, once safe, the race will be de-neutralised. Immediately after the crest of the first hill the road drops away to the left followed by a sharp right hand bend where extreme care is needed. After a series of rolling hills the race turns left (M) into Salt Lane and climbs up to The Milburys Pub crossroads. Just before cresting the Salt Lane climb riders will cross the finish line for the first time (there will be a further 7 laps). At the crossroads (M) the race turns left for a fast decent followed by a sharp climb to the Longwood Road junction, at the junction the race turns left (M) and descends to the junction with Belmore Lane where the race will turn left (M) to complete the circuit. Riders will pass the finish line 8 (eight) times in total.
Prime Awards
Once riders cross the finish line on the first occasion the lap board will show 7 laps to go, thereafter there will be 5 sprint laps for Prime Awards, followed by the bell lap (1 to go). *Please note BC Technical Regulation 13.3 - this prevents any rider sprinting for a Prime only to climb off after the finish line. If any rider fails to finish following a Prime Award he will be removed and then all riders move up one slot. Happy sprinting!

Moreton Race Series #3, Eastwood Edges out Warner

Eastwood gets some Air!
Jay Eastwood (Primera-sport.com) edged out Pete Warner (ridebike.co.uk/training room) in a messy sprint to win round 3 of the Ride Moreton race series. Eastwood forced his way out of a box to get onto Warners wheel before coming round with perfect timing. Jason Gault (Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers) took third place, showing last week's win was no fluke. The pan-flat pursuit had seen the scratch group bring the race together with two, three mile laps remaining. James Horton (primera-sport.com) struck out for glory, the gap was small and Horton was soon back in the bunch.
Dave Pickering (Bournemouth Jubilee Wh) went with a lap to go, the gap was bigger, the legs were stronger, the commitment beyond question, yet the fate was that of Horton’s. Pickering was swallowed up on the last corner, at that distance the bunch can smell the line and nobody is going anywhere. Warner, however sensed a lull and attacked early immediately opening a gap of three lengths, the Dorset League leader put his head down and looked set for victory but Eastwood had other ideas.

New Forest CC Club 10,26/5/15,Results

New Forest CC riders took to the reliably quick P128 course on Tuesday evening, which circles from Netley Marsh to the Totton ring road, to Copythorn and Cadnam. Conditions were ideal for fast times as a warm south westerly aided the 36 riders in the event. Again it was Ben Boardman setting the pace to beat in the Division One Competition in a sporting time of 22:06 from Sasha Ring in 22:25. Stewart Ward broke up the top three monopoly ahead of Stuart Peckham in 22:52 and 23:22 respectively. Graham Lenton and Nick Buck also dived under 23 minutes to average over 25mph on the course. Long distance specialist Steve Skinner just gained the better of Peter Trunwit in div 2 with times of 24:38 and 24:42. Phil Harris made it into the top three with a great time of 25:18. Darren Ridge (27:06) had to dig deep to claim his second straight win in div 3 from Mark Webb (27:07) and Chris Mills in third (28:18).

Dorset League Update, Warner Tops Standings

Round 2 of the Moreton Race Series, sponsored by RideBike.co.uk, saw a number of changes to the Dorset League standings.

Race organiser Steve Dring's 4th place takes him up to 5th in the league and his UK-Biking team-mate Ed Hatfield shoots up the table from 14th to 6th with his amazing 2nd place in the race!
Charlie Cooper (Eden Veranda), Roland Tilley (RideBike), Ian Taylor(Leicester Forest CC) and Calum Croft (Primera) round out the top 10.
In the team standings, Primera-Sports.com extend their lead at the top, thanks to James Horton and Jay Eastwood's points.

Moreton Race Series, Gault Gives Notice!

Jason Gault (Bournemouth Jubilee Wh) won round two of the Ride Moreton race series, finishing a bike length clear of the more established names. Gault, a winner from the blue group last year, has worked hard over the winter, stepped up to the scratch group and will be a threat for the overall.
Fifteen year old Ed Hatfield (UK BIKING) grabbed second in an exciting sprint finish that saw prolific winner Jay Eastwood boxed in with nowhere to go. Hatfield has been winning the U16 races at Goodwood for fun and he showed little respect the older legs & wiser heads at Moreton, cheekily going off the front as the race came together with two laps to go. (It did not work this time but it will!) James Horton (Primera-sport.com) has been off the bike with a virus but just held off series organiser Steve Dring (UK BIKING) to take third place.
A full field of sixty enjoyed a perfect spring evening deep in the Dorset countryside followed by tea & cake in the newly opened village hall. On line entry is already open for next week’s race and also for the new, Women only mini-series. Starting at 18:40, twenty minutes before the men, the four race competition will run throughout June. DHC Team Launch

DHC Racing - Team Launch This Weekend – 24th May 2015

Dave Harding Writes........
The DHC Race Team
This weekend sees the team launch of 'DHC Racing'. Dave Harding has been busy organising the re-launch of his team over the last six months. A big thank you goes out to the team sponsors. Several sponsors came on board early on to help financially. Dave is looking to repay their faith with an awesome looking kit and a bunch of enthusiastic road racers to fly their flag on the kit. I'm sure you agree the team kit looks awesome. Dave has assembled an enthusiastic and friendly team of racers; the emphasis being on team work rather than individual effort. The team is all inclusive and not elitist.
The DHC Cycle Club
The DHC cycle club is in its infancy at the moment but will play a larger part and more of a role within the ‘DHC family’ in the coming months. For those looking to race - a launch pad towards the team if you will. But the Club will also be a place for more relaxed club runs and training rides. The DHC cycle club will take on the other cycling disciplines such as Time Trials and Cyclo Cross etc. You can keep an eye on these plans at the DHC website as they progress.
Matthew Downie
A mention has to be made regarding team racer Matthew Downie’s recent racing achievement. Mathew took 3rd place and a bronze medal at British Cyclings regional men’s junior road race championships. Matt animated the race completely and was leading the race on a solo breakaway for three laps before being caught on lap 6. Unfortunately Well done Matt a great attacking race.
Team Launch
Team launch is this Sunday 24th May. Pics and press release next week. If you are interested in joining our ranks we would be pleased to hear from you. Contact details below.

New Forest CC Club 10,19/5/15,Report, Results

After the postponement of the last round in the 10 series due to adverse weather. Round three of the 10 series took place on Tuesday night on the unpredictable P311 course from Ringwood to Sopley and back. Although pan flat, the course rarely facilitates super-fast times. The conditions were cool and a stiff westerly wind gusted in, providing a test for the 33 riders. Division one aired an element of predictability as Ben Boardman again stamped his authority on the race for the division one championship with a competitive time of 22:37 ahead of Sasha Ring in 23:03. Third was tied between Stewart Ward and Stuart Peckham in 23:39. Ben was very pleased with the result as he and several other riders had ridden in the Wessex RC 50 mile TT over the weekend. First place in the division two competition ended in victory for Stephen Skinner with 25:23 ahead of the improving Peter Trunwit in 25:53 who edged out Phil Underwood into third. Darren Ridge (27:40) led home first in Division three from Peter Hawker and Chris Mills.

New Forest CC riders have been busy over the last two weekends participating in the ordeal that is a 50 mile time trial. Gary lock easily broke the two hour barrier at the Charlotteville CC event on 10th May riding the Bentley A31 course near Farnham in 1:56:28. Meanwhile 5 NFCC riders tackled the Wessex RC 50 on 17th May from Poole to Tolpuddle. As ever Ben Boardman led home the NFCC riders in a time of 2:01:20, from Stuart Peckham and Steve Skinner in 2:02:12 and 2:04:31 respectively. Graham Lenton recorded a great time of 2:07:30 ahead of Andrew Hanley and Martin Balk in 2:10:10 and 2:29:02 respectively

Regional Road Championships,Tough Love for Top Junior Billyard.

Despite a clinical victory for Jack Billyard (RP Racing Team) , father Peter will still be expecting some petrol money for the trip home to Devises, Tough Love at this age is always the best approach! Billyard had sensed the danger when Mattew Downie (DHC Racing) had gone up the road, his effort to reach Downie distanced the bunch with only Ashley Hutchinson having the legs to follow. Working well together the trio built a lead of over two minutes on a strangely disinterested peloton. A crash on lap two may have taken the steam out of the chase, five riders came down after hitting a pot hole.Lewis Martin (Fareham Wheelers) & Sam Wadsley (Poole Wheelers) both left skin on the road but both will fight another day. Billyard had raced the course the previous week at the Tour of the Milburys and timed his sprint to perfection allowing Hutchison to lead out before coming round as the clearly disappointed ST Raphael man faded. James Hywel-Davies escaped to take fourth place with Theo Webb (Velo Club Venta) winning the kick as the bunch finally came to life.
Rider Reaction
Jack Billyard "Matthew Downie was up the road going well so I knew I had to get up to him so I attacked and only theAshely came with me we worked for a lap until we got on. All three of us worked well and had about 2 minutes in the last lap. In the sprint I knew I'd timed it well from racing here last week so I was glad to get my hands in the air for the first time this year. Yea, the regionals has been a decent aim for me this year, today came at the end of a three week block of racing so it's nice to see the training playing off. I'd just like to say a massive thank you to my coach Martin Smith whom without I couldn't have won today"

Ashely Hutchinson “I am disappointed, I was on the front but I panicked a little and went too early and ran out of steam, I should have waited for to go, I have got a pretty decent kick on me so am pretty fed up. It split up quite early, it was quite a long way out but we worked well together, we knew we were going to stay away.”

Matthew Downie “I felt really good, no one seemed to want to work so I took it on attacking on the steepest hill, with the restricted gearing I knew I would have the benefit going downhill. I stayed away for a lap before the other two joined up. We worked well ,thru and off and by the bell we had a two minute lead. From there it was sort of playing around, I was fairly confident in the sprint but it was a fiar result”
