New Forest CC Club 10, 01/08/17, Report/Results

Round 10 of the New Forest CC’s “10” series had a shakeup at the top of the leader board this week on the P128 course. The riders were fortunate to have a period of fine weather for the event and missed all the heavy rain that had been prevalent over the last couple of weeks. Antony Green produced a polished performance to claim his first win of the season and duck under the 22 minute mark in 21:55. Antony who is a renowned strong finisher commented after the race.
“It was a fast but tough evening and I was pleased to get under 22 in spite of a couple of issues with my gears. This course is a bit unpredictable with the fast approaches to roundabouts, and you can lose a lot of time, but I didn’t. Fortunately the Copythorne road tractor didn’t get me this time out either!”

Andy Postlethwaite maintained his great form this season taking second place in 22:19, who was able to just increase his advantage over third place James Bannister (22:42) by a further few seconds after the intermediate check point, from 21 to 23 seconds. Stuart Peckham misjudged his pacing and dropped from third at the intermediate timing point to finish just behind Justin Priest (23:00) in 23:03 and in fifth place.

Phil Harris held off Bob Dowling to claim his second consecutive victory in Division 2 and just nudged under twenty five minutes in 24:58 to Bob’s 25:13. Dan had a battle royale to fend off Phil Jones for third place by a mere two seconds in 26:03 and 25:05 respectively. Bob looks to have finally wrapped up Division two with 88 points, as Phil can now only reach 87 points with one race to go if other results go his way.
Division three was a little more spread out in the times recorded and Josh Cole rode to his third win of the season in 26:16. Peter Weaver closed out division three with another fine second place in 27:22 and now holds a 7 point advantage over Catherine Pascoe with 85 points to Catherine’s 78. Catherine also took third place on the evening in 28:19. Isabelle Parkes, who is battling Catherine for third place overall couldn’t close the gap and came home in 29:00 in fifth behind Bob Joliffe in fourth (28:51).
