Midlands’s visitor, Paul Dring (Echelon-Rotor) surprised the locals to win round 10 of the Moreton series. Dring went for a long one, taking fifteen year old Alex Jolliffe (Poole Wh) with him. Turning left into the mile-long home straight, the youngster went to the front and put in a big turn, perhaps too big. The more experienced Dring was happy to take a tow as big brother & team mate Steve, disrupted the chase behind. Stronger in the sprint, Dring was “very pleased” with the win after two second places this season. Alex Jolliffe seemed just as excited with second place, his smile lighting up the finish. The sprinters were licking their lips after series leader Jay Eastwood (Primera-sports.com) broke a spoke and was forced to retire. Calum Croft (Mud, Sweat ‘Gears) kept the pressure on Eastwood but was disappointed not to take more advantage. Eastwood will miss next week but should seal another series win in the final round on July 25th
