New Forest CC Club 16, 20/03/16, Results

New Forest Cycling Club continued their spring time trial programme last Sunday, predominantly used for cyclists to build up their speed, fitness and endurance for the popular 10 series starting in April. After the previous two 10 mile events, the distance was ramped up to a challenging 16 miles on the picturesque P165 course, starting from Balmer Lawn in Brockenhurst, heading towards Beaulieu continuing to loop round to Lyndhurst before concluding before the Balmer Lawn. Several of the 21 cyclists who braved the yet again chilly conditions chose to ride the TT “old school”. So no aero equipment or bikes, just the standard road bike. It was Nick Buck who again continued to demonstrate his fine early season form by leading the NFCC riders home in a super time of 40:42 ahead of Barry Hards in 42:48. Club Secretary made up the top three NFCC riders in 43:36, edging out club champion, Ben Boardman in 43:53. A new course record was set by one of the private entries and Dave Dent representing Wightlink-Offshore Road Team raised the temperature and scorched round in a new course record of 38:29. Ray Claridge from GA Cycles showed a good return to form by clocking a fine 39:52.
