Horton Triumphs at Moreton! Round 10 Report & Results

James Horton (Cannondale) inflicted a rare sprint defeat on Jay Eastwood (Banjo Cycles) to win round 10 of the Moreton road race series. In a blanket finish, Horton won by the narrowest of margins, passing Eastwood on the inside. The Banjo man’s second place though gave him an unassailable lead in the 12 round series with two races remaining, winning for the fifth year running. Another full field of 60 riders contested a fast race, with the scratch group making the catch on the last lap. Horton won last year with a late, lone attack and tried again this time, a move that was quickly snuffed out, he would not be beaten though, taking on Eastwood and deservedly winning the exciting bunch kick. A last lap “chute” saw Charmaine Walby (CC Weymouth) come down heavily and spend the rest of the evening at Dorchester A&E with just a few cuts and bruises.
