Ovo Energy Tour of Britain Route Announced

The 2018 OVO Energy Tour of Britain Route

This year’s OVO Energy Tour of Britain promises to be a thrilling, innovative and unpredictable race, passing through iconic cities, towns and landmarks.

Taking place from 2 to 9 September, the 1,140-kilometre route will take the world’s top riders from Pembrey Country Park on the Carmarthenshire coast in South Wales to the streets of Central London, via Devon, Bristol, Warwickshire, Cumbria and Nottinghamshire across eight stages of racing.

The race will include a Team Time Trial for the first time as well as a summit finish on Whinlatter Pass in Cumbria on Stage Six.
The first 14 teams have been confirmed, including Quick-Step Floors, Team Sky, Katusha Alpecin, and more!

The final list of participating teams for the 2018 OVO Energy Tour of Britain will be confirmed week commencing 16 July!

Winner of the recent Bournemouth Jubilee 2 Day, Luke Barfoot ( Tri UK) wins the Portsmouth North End CC race in Hampshire.
"So there was 4 of us from Tri Uk racing and we all wanted to make a good show. Giles(Greening)and Sean(Frost)both both got in the early break, while me and Ben(Lockett)were just blocking and stopping any chases from developing. I knew I had decent legs but wanted to save it until the right time. When we caught the break of 5 on the bell lap. I decided to hit them straight away, looked around and everyone just sat up. I was just focused on getting to the line first and not worried about the chase behind. My confidence is good at the moment and results are coming"

Moreton Cancellation Casts Doubt over Race Series!

The cancellation of round 5 of the Moreton kermesse on 31st May, must cast doubt over the whole series. With just 6 riders pre-entered organisers, Steve Dring & Richard Lang called the race off on Thursday afternoon. Just three years ago the racing was oversubscribed with 60 riders signing on a full week in advance but this year numbers have been down from the start. Goodwood, Thruxton, Odd Down, Henstridge and the return of the Heath races have given plenty of choice to local riders and perhaps the "boom" of the last few years has bust! Run under TLI regulations, as an Australian pursuit (handicap), Moreton offered a great introduction to bunch racing for local novices and a good mid-week "hit out" for the big boys, it would be a shame to lose it from the calendar. Richard Lang posted the following on social media:

"We have had to take the difficult decision to cancel tonight's round of Moreton due to very disappointing number of pre-entries.
We need at least half a field to get anywhere near to break even. We had 12 pre-entries last week and 8 tonight :(
If it carries on like this then the series will inevitably stop running.
If you have previously raced Moreton and no longer do so, we would be very grateful for any feedback on why that is. Comment or private message."
