Tracy Cook in Form for Long Course Triathlon World Championships

Primera/TBC triathlete Tracy Cook ended her domestic season with yet another double victory in her final preparations for the Long Course World Championships in Las Vegas, 5th November. Cook is head of P E at Claysmore School in North Dorset and has had a fantastic season going from strength to strength. A gold medalist at the 70.3 World Championships last year, Cook is stepping up to the long course distance (4k swim, 120k, 30k run)this time round.

Earlier this month Tracy won the ‘Swashbuckler 2- Buckler’s Revenge’, set in the historic Bucklers Hard, Beaulieu. A 1600m tidal estuary swim followed by 42mile bike and 11.5mile run, torrential rain on the bike leg made it a very tough day. Tracy was first to exit the water and led the race all the way to finish 8 minutes ahead of the 2nd lady, Lisa Greenfield (Bad Tri) and managing to beat all but one man taking 2nd place overall in a field of 120 competitors.

Last Sunday's ‘Primera New Forest Middle Distance Triathlon’ was "as you were" for Cook. The race started with a 1900m swim from Ellingham Lake, 56 mile hilly bike round the new forest and a very demanding 14 mile hilly off road run finishing at the Sandy Balls Holiday Centre, Godshill. In a field of just over 380 competitors, Tracy was yet again first lady to exit the swim leading from the outset and crossing the finish line 15 minutes ahead of 2nd lady, Hannah Shooter (Mansfield Tri) and taking 4th place overall.

Tracy will be hoping to hold onto this winning form leading into the World Championships in 6 weeks time!
