The East Dorset Cycling Association 15 mile time trial due to be held on August bank holiday Monday (26th) has been cancelled. Organiser Jonathan Charman had recieved only 19 entries by the closing date, compared to over forty last year,and more than sixty some years. Charman intends to run the event next year as a Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers Open time trial. The EDCA is being wound up after 25 years Originally set up by Bob Wareing of the Jubilee in 1988, the association gave local riders the chance to compete in individual & club competions. The semi-open races offered no prize money but entry fees were kept low and trophies were awarded at the end of the season. In the days of fast courses and full fields the EDCA gave slower riders the chance to ride faster events but dwindling numbers, especially in the South district has seen Bob Wareing reluctantly call time on the Association.
