Matt Hill in form for Team UK- BIKING

Richard Lang reports………..Team UK-Biking Primera got their first national mountain bike win at the weekend, with Matt Hill winning the Sport group in the fourth round of the 2012 British Cross Country Series in Kirroughtree, Scotland.

Weather was horrible all weekend, but the 8 hour trip turned out to be worth the effort for Matt as he overcame the wet roots and mud to ride (and often run) to first place on the podium.

As a result of his win, Hill has now secured a minimum of second place in the series and within 4 points of the current series leader Lee Gratton, with one race to go.

"It was a very tough race due to the bad conditions but I am really pleased to take the win and put myself in with a shout for the series" Hill said after the race.

In the other races, Sam Shepherd came 5th in the Juveniles and father Darren coming in 15th in the Vets despite a puncture. Also in the vets were good performances from Chris Walker (17th) and Mike Radburn (31st).
