Local Riders,Local Races!

Jay Eastwood writes…….Despite what has been a long and rather wet season Primera Specialized riders continue to perform.
Will Stephenson rode the race of his life in the Junior Tour of Wales. Consisting of 5 varying stages each day is by far junior in its profile. Last years winner was Owain Doull who has gone on this year to ride with the Sky development team 100% ME and a catalog of now successful top riders have decorated the podium spots before him.
This year it was Will's turn to shine having highlighted this race as one of his seasons main targets.
After 2 stages Will was only 3 seconds down on eventual winner Hugh Carthy (Champion Systems). The sprinters were left to fight out stages 3 and 4 which made no change to the contenders for the overall. With nothing to loose and everything to gain Will went on the attack for almost all of the fifth and final 100k stage. Taking 2 riders for company they battled poring rain and heavy roads only to be caught in the closing stages by a chasing group of 8 which included the yellow jersey. Finishing 2nd overall and less than a minute from the top spot Will was happy.. Very happy!
A fantastic performance and a very proud team!
Also this weekend saw another round of Suzie's Circuits in Portsmouth with Toby Neave taking a well earned 2nd place and behind Al Ridler (Pedal Heaven). And Ian Legg rode the Torq 12 hour MTB Endurance race narrowly missing out on a podium spot to finish 4th following a heavy crash in the closing stages.
